Locked Out
We had some day today I went out to get Gavin’s shoes that were in the garage and Gavin locked the dead bolt. I tried to talk Gavin how to unlock the bolt but I was getting frustrated and Gavin was crying and frustrated. I told him to get his stool or a chair he just keep trying to turn the knob. After about 15 min of trying to get him to unlock the door I decided that it wasn’t going to work so I started to think how I could get in the house. I decided the only way I could get in was the back door because that is the only door I know he can unlock. I got the ice chest to put in front of our fence but it wasn’t tall enough. So then I took the dog carrier and was able to get high enough to get on the fence then I just had to be able to get my leg over the side which was a challenge having a 7-month baby belly to work with. After I got both my legs over the side and was sitting on the fence then I had to decide how I would get down the other side. I didn’t have shoes on so I didn’t want to jump down on the rocks so I decided to turn around and go down like scaling a wall I put my feet on the side and went to let my self down but didn’t work like I had planned my hands slipped and I feel right on my butt on the rocks. Don’t worry I am alright however, I did break 3 fingernails in the process. So after I got over I had to get Gavin to go to the back door and unlock the door. I saw him in his room sitting on the floor crying I knock he comes over I look at his door and we have a child proof lock on his door so he stays in his room during naps I was so afraid he had locked him self in his room and there was no way I would be able to get back over the wall especially because I wouldn’t have anything to climb on. But it was ok he hadn’t closed the door all the way so he could get out. So I tell him to go to the back door and let me inside. He leaves so I go to the back door I knocking and he isn’t coming I walk around to the different windows and he got distracted with a game I could hear him in there playing I am knocking on the different windows and door to get him to come and he still doesn’t come. Finally he is back in his room so I knock he comes over and I am talking to him through the window. I say you want to go outside and ride your bike he says yes but still doesn’t move. Finally I convince him to go to the back door it takes him some time but he finally comes and unlocks the door. I call Chris at work to tell him what happens and he just laughs and asks why I didn’t use the ladder in the garage-didn’t think about that but I still would have had trouble getting down the other side. The hole episode took about 45 min and I have decided that I need to hide a key outside someplace.

Holy Tamoli!! Are you sure you're okay?? That little Gavin!! I don't know about him!!! It sounds like you didn't stress like I would've, and you just stayed calm and figured out a solution. Good job! A think an outside would be a good idea!!

Sure glad you weren't hurt. Remember when you tried to perform a backflip for us when you were visiting. Poor little Gavin, not knowing what to do. I'll bet Gavin was relieved when he was able to unlock the sliding door. I'm with Jessica, I wouldn't have been so calm. Better get that extra key hidden. That might have been a good video; however to send in to America's Funniest Home Videos. You could have won a lot of money for winning video of the week. Anyway glad you're not hurt. Craig
Hey Helena,
Thanks for your cute Christmas card. It's very cute, especially Gavin's smile :)
