5 Year Anniversary

We had our 5-year anniversary on March 6, 2009. The traditional gift to give on a 5-year anniversary is wood. Wood represents the strength of your marriage. Wood is strong and long lasting. So for our gift of wood on our anniversary we went to Home Depot after a yummy dinner at Outback Steakhouse. We bought some wood to build an extra shelf in our laundry room. Chris did a great job putting it together for us. I told him I couldn’t wait for our ten-year anniversary when the modern gift is diamond jewelry. Diamond jewelry links your yesterdays with tomorrow. Diamonds are often viewed as symbols of love and commitment. I have to give him 5 years to prepare for a big purchase.

This website is fun it gives gift ideas and celebration suggestions for your 1st to 100th wedding anniversary. http://marriage.about.com/cs/anniversaries/a/wedannivideas.htm

The top shelf is what Chris built.

While at Home Depot we also bought handles. Chris did a great job putting them in.

I took the kids to Emily's and we went swimming. Gavin said he never wanted to go home. Brody looks cute in his swimming suit.

Gavin is a good little swimmer in his life jacket.

A mom duck and her 14 babies got stuck in the pool. He put a chair in hoping they would get out. I haven't heard if they made it out yet.

We walked over to the lake and feed the ducks at the lake. Gavin would throw in half pieces of bread for them to eat. There was baby swans at the lake.
Brody decided to feed himself the bread and just said Duck over and over again. Brody has got really good at a few words. He says Duck, stuck, rock, and book. He used to say Uh-Oh (First word) when he dropped things, but now has moved on to new words. He still doesn't say Mom or Dad. I must not teach my kids those words because Gavin's first word was Dog and then Rock.
Cute Brody and Gavin!
Brody loves Grandpa! The other day Grandma and Grandpa came over to watch him. Brody comes a walking with arms up, walks right past Grandma so Grandpa could hold him. Now the boys fight to have Grandpa hold them. I told mom it was because I always make her do the mean things like getting their hair cut and such. I do think it is cute that they love their Grandpa so much. He is pretty lucky.

Happy Anniversary! That's funny building the shelf for the "wood" part. Good job Chris. Are you starting to get into project crazy mode like me Helena??? Uh-oh :) kaleb would love to see ducks in the pool! That would be sweet, especially the babies. What cute boys Brody and Gavin are! I try not to think about Craig spoiling them cause it makes me sad for Kaleb missing out. He hasn't even seen him since he was 2 months!! Sadness!!!
