Gavin Test Results

Finally after waiting 3 months to get in to see the ADHD doctor we finally had our visit today. It went well and I was so glad to hear that he is ADHD instead of me just guessing or me thinking I am just a bad mother. I also learned some new things at the appointment. For one he has a heart murmur. It isn't a bad one, but we have to go a cardiologist to make sure there are no problems with the medication that he will be taking. I am extremely worried about the medication especially because so many people have told me not to medicate him or it didn't work for them. But really there isn't much I am able to do without it. We already do all we can. I really hope and pray that the first time is the charm and this first medication does the trick without side affects. One side affect she said is that it may cause sleepiness so we are taking after school so hopefully he will sleep better at night. It is a slow reacting pill so she said it will probably take a week to notice any changes. She also suspects a learning disability, so through school he has to have a full psycho educational evaluation done. She says it is a form of dyslexia. They way she described it is that when he sees something like a letter the next time he sees it the same letter can look completely foreign to him. Which would explain lots because I can ask him something that I know he knew yesterday, but today he has no idea and I don't understand how he can not know. Or if we are practicing books he knows one word but two pages later he doesn't know what it is. She also really wants him to see a dermatologist for the chronic Eczema.

So Gavin poor teacher at the very end of the year gets to get him into evaluation and fill out even more paperwork for me. I hope I can get everything done before school ends this month. His teacher was totally shocked when I told her, especially about the possible learning disability. She always told me she didn't think he was hyper just ADD I just laughed and said I am glad he isn't jumping off the walls at school like he does at home. It was also funny she said that because when the doctor was going over the paper work his teacher filled out he scored extremely high for ADHD and the doctor was surprised she wasn't calling complaining everyday. I told the doctor that she is so laid back and perfect for him she just loves him and it has been a great year.

It just stresses me out thinking about everything I have to do and then go back for reevaluation in 6 weeks and then going back every three months. It takes me all day to go there and back. Then I am sure the other doctors we go to will have to do reevaluations. This one child just consumes me and I am so glad that Brody and Paris don't require much.

Paris
Well it never seems like I blog about her much she will probably be mad at me when she gets older at my lack of memories I have down for her and why her brothers have so many pictures and scrapbook pages. Sorry Babe! She really is so easy and so great! Right now she has a thing for spoons. She carries them around with her and takes them to bed just loves to hold them. She is getting so close to walking, finally! At 13 months she will take a couple steps before falling down. She gets very excited when she does. She has 4 teeth, but I can see 3 more coming. She loves her pink fuzzy blanket, which is in the picture bellow along with the spoon she is sleeping with.
She loves the hampster. She bangs on the cage with her hands, which the hampster hisses and her. She really likes when she is in the ball so she can hold her. She would hold her without the ball, but she does not understand gentle. Well I have to be right there with the ball also because she drops her and tosses her around like she is a toy.

Gavin loves to put the hampster places and pretend that she is driving around. In the picture he has her in a train pretending she is driving it. It reminds me of the mouse and the motercycle book I have read to him. Brody will still not touch the hampster, but asks Gavin all the time to hold her so he can see it. Then Gavin teases him by putting it in Brodys face, Boys!

Brody loves to tease Paris and it drives me crazy. Everytime Brody touches her she yells at him. Brody needs to learn gentle with his sister. He is a bull, plowing down everything in his way.

Thanks for the post. That's a blessing Gavin has an awesome teacher this year and I hope everything works out with the medication. Scary! Sorry you have to go through so much. Love the pictures of Paris and the spoon :) The kids are funny with the hampster. Eliza treats our turtle the same way. Just drops him and throws him around!

We're sorry to hear about your current stress and worry as a Mom. I'm sure it's a relief to at least know what has been making him act hyper and why he's having a hard time learning. It will be one more thing to work at, but you always do great with the stress/trials in your life. You're a wonderful mommy and we will be praying for you guys! Love you guys!!!
