Brody Ray Parker

We had Brody Ray Parker on January 24th , 2008 at 11:50 a.m. He weighed 7 lbs and was 18.5 inches long. He was supposed to be born at 10:00 but Doctors kept having emergency c-sections in which case we were bumped but we finally got in the operating room and they got Brody out. Doctor Lepetich did the surgery this time, which was very different from Gavin. With Gavin I was already in the hospital for 2 days in labor and was very shaky but with the epidural, I did not feel anything. With Brody they did a Spinal Tap, and I was able to feel the tugging and pulling of them removing the baby. It was so nice not being in labor, just walking in and getting ready to have the baby. The Mesa Banner Dessert hospital was very nice which was a lot different from Logan. Grandma and Grandpa were planning on going to the hospital at 10:00 with Gavin to take pictures of Brody in the nursery but we found out that that hospital didn’t do that. They just have the baby stay with the mom in the recovery room and you have to stay in the recovery room at least 2 hours. So, we called them and let them know that they wouldn’t be able to bring Gavin to see the baby until he was in the room around 2. They came around 4 and we were still in the recovery waiting for a room. But, not long after they sent us upstairs to our room Gavin, Grandma, and Grandpa got to meet Baby Brother Brody. I didn’t think Gavin would do well with Brody but to my surprise he loves his baby brother. Gavin loves to rub his head and hold him. Gavin didn’t really like to stay at the hospital very long so they just came an hour a day to visit. I was at the hospital from Thursday the 24th to Sunday 27th. We had lots of great visitors come to the hospital Grandma and Grandpa Barrett and Gavin and from Chris’ work Uncle Mike, Emily, Teresa, Mike W., Nate, and then Jessica and Mike came on Saturday. Also, Michelle from the ward came to visit. Also, my doctors wife Shelly from our old ward in Chandler came to visit. Amy and the kids have been sick so they haven’t been able to visit yet but Aunt Amy is going to come tonight and visit us. Today was the first day on formula and I feel like he is eating lots just because he was starving. He has lost a lot of weight from when he was born. He started at 7 lbs and now is at 6.8 lbs. Brody has the same color hair as his dad and same color as Gavin when he was born. We will see if the color sticks. Brody has dark blue hair same as Gavin, cute button nose, little lips which angle a little to the left just like dad’s. Brody’s ears are cute and little right against his little head, long fingers with a long finger nail base. He will have pretty fingernails like his Uncle Travis. Brody doesn’t seem to have as high of a pain tolerance as Gavin. He was circumcised and didn’t do well with it at all-- still tender. At the hospital, Brody did not like sleeping in the bassinet, only with mom, but he is doing lots better at sleeping in his crib now. He is able to sleep through Gavin’s noise level and will, hopefully continue to sleep through anything. We are very excited to have the new bundle of Joy in our family. He is a very cute baby. When Brody cries, funny thing, Gavin cries too. He says he remembers when he was little, and he hurt and cried.

So cute how Gavin is folding his arms. What little buddies they will be.

Precious! I didn't know he had dark blue hair. Maybe i have to see him in person to catch that unique color :) Glad Gavin loves him and cries with him. Sorry about nursing. I understand about that. Hope you guys keep Grandma and Grandpa Barett in line. Love you guys!

Thanks for keeping us so updated. It is so fun to hear how things are going and see the fun pictures. I am glad to hear things are going good. It sounds like you had to play quite the waiting game for little Brody to come into the world. I am glad he finally made it. Congratulations!!!
