Beloved Fido

Today has been a sad day. Our favorite dog Fido has died. Yesterday Gavin and Grandpa took Fido for a walk. During the walk, a rattlesnake bit Fido. It has been very sad to lose someone in the family, but at the same time, I feel such relief that it was not Grandpa or Gavin. Looking back, they were blessed in so many ways during that time. Gavin was scared and sad at the time and was crying; Grandpa ran Fido to the vet then took him home later that night. All of us went over to see him that night, which was so sad to see him in so much pain. Gavin now has many questions about rattlesnakes and death. If you ask Gavin about it, his response is “That dumb rattlesnake bit Fido and now he’s dead.” Brody loves Fido and when they came over he always run to the door looking for “dog”.

I remember so many things about Fido. I was working at a company and a place next door asked if anyone wanted a puppy. He said he found them up in the mountains and was trying to find them a home. I went over and looked at them and really wanted one. So I took one, went to the vet, got him shots, and brought him home. At the vet, he made me pick a name and I went with Fido the vet laughed and said out of all the dogs he has ever seen, none was named Fido, even with that being a dogs name. Needless to say my dad Craig did not want one and even tried to give him away. Luckily, Craig fell in love and eventually after me leaving home; I knew I would never get him back because Craig and Fido were made for each other. He was always the perfect dog, great with the kids. He will be missed by all.
