Gavin's Birthday

Gavin is now 3, I can’t believe how fast they grow. For his birthday, we went to the rock museum. I know rock museum, how fun can that be. Even the people that worked there thought we were weird for bringing them to the rock museum for a party. Gavin loves rocks and is always putting them in his pockets and taking them in the house from outside. I thought he would enjoy the museum, his cousins came with us and they also enjoyed. The only problem is it isn’t very toddler friendly they kids were all excited running around and the workers kept telling them to walk. I lost Gavin for a min and the worker said he was right there and she told him to walk. I told her walk is not in his vocabulary. They had the top section closed by rope that doesn’t stop Gavin and Cloie from taking off up the stairs. The kids really enjoyed they went around about 3 times.
I was having Gavin and Samantha pick out some rocks to buy. Gavin had many choices that he liked and finally decided on some rock slabs that were $0.50 and Samantha picked out a pretty rock for her and one for her brothers and sister. Well when we got home we found out Gavin had put some rocks that he liked in his pocket. Not the cheap $0.50 rocks either it was the $4.00 rocks what little rock cost that much. Guess we need to mail a check for our little thief we have.
After the museum, we went to Mike and Amy’s for dinner, cake, and ice cream. Then kids decided to dig into the cake I think it is fun to watch them eat it with their hands. I had made a small cake without all the frosting for the adults. Then we opened gifts, all the kids love to play with new toys. He got a lot of great presents. Emily gave him an Aquadoodle mat (love that it is not messy), Brandon gave him some noisy trucks, Amy, Mike and kids gave him a disk thrower and rocks. He was playing with the disk thrower before church and was looking at the disk, and it hit him in the face. He said “Ouch, My face” Now he has a big scratch on his nose and lips. We keep telling him not to point it towards his face but he doesn’t listen. The rocks he loves to put in a row and he took 4 of them to church with him. We gave him the truck from Cars movie, Mack he liked that present he put the rocks on were the cars go. Then Chris took the kids to bed and the rest of us stayed up and played Monopoly. The winners were between Mike and Amy first one to land on the others property won. Amy won the game.

On the cake the sticks wouldn’t stay in like I wanted so I did it over that is why in one picture they are yellow and in the other pictures they are green.

Can you see Gavin, Dad, and Brody?

Brody is so big! He looks cubby in that carrier.

Rocks at the museum.
Brody's first time in a big pool.

Brody and Anika loving the water.

Brody having fun with the wrapping paper. Good cousin Cloie taking away the wrapping paper Brody is eating.

Gavin's paint project. I had him paint on a canvas (picture on the right) and thought it was wonderful, a master piece. Gavin didn't think it was finished yet, so I gave him a new paper, he likes it brown and covered on his hands. That is when it is a final master piece for him. P.S. Not washable paint it was acrylic paint I had, which I told him to be careful with when we started, but half way through I gave up. Table cloth is now a paint table cloth. This paint wasn't bad getting off him. I do not like the crayola squeezable 3-D paint. It is supposed to be washable, but if it gets on arm hairs which with Gavin it usually does. That paint does not come off he have to pill the paint off the arm. I do not recomend using that paint with toddlers. It is fun because it is 3-D but hard for Gavin squeez out of the containers and impossible to get off of him.

great job on the cake! you are very artistic! it sounds like gavin had a lot of fun this year. you should do the box within a box trick for him next time. you put his present in a box, and put that one in another box, so he gets to open more paper, but you don't have to buy more presents! unwrapping is the fun part at that age anyway, haha.

We had a blast at your party. The kids were very hyper the next day in church. Could it be from all the Sugar? We love our cousin Gavin. Thanks for the pics you sent.

Great birthday idea!! Kids love rocks. Great cake too! I'm a little worried that Gavin is only three and already a klepto. He must get that from Chris. (just kidding)
