Gavin's Update

My baby boy is getting so big, it is so hard to believe. I got him all registered for kindergarten with both excitement and fear. He will be attending Edu-Prize charter school and I am hoping he will be in the afternoon schedule, in hopes while Gavin is at school, the babies will be sleeping so I can get some homework finished. The school day is almost five hours long. We will find out his schedule and teacher in May or June.

We went to the doctor and got his shots to get ready for kindergarten these are his stats. Weight 34 lbs (this was with his heavy jacket on-I weighed him at home and he was on 32 lbs), but at 34 lbs he is in the 18% for his age. He is 40 in tall, which is 18% for his age and his BMI weight to height is 32%. He is a little boy! The hearing and sight test was interesting and took forever. For the hearing test they told him to tell them when he hears a sound. After a few minutes of him just sitting there. They asked can you hear anything he said no. They said can you hear a hum sound he said yes. Then he listened longer and he did not say anything. We asked if he could hear the hum sound he said yes. We keep telling him that he had to tell us when he could hear it. Finally we started getting him to raise his hand when he heard the sound. It seriously took like 15 min for them to tell me he could hear. The sight test was interesting trying to get him to follow directions so we knew he was seeing the right pictures. The doctor said to keep an eye on his right eye because he didn't pass that eye either from not understanding or not being able to see. I think it is lack of understanding, but we will watch and he will probably test again later. The sight test took another 15 min it was a long doctor visit.

As for school, I am planning for the worst with hopes of the best. I am planning on him retaking kindergarten. I am hoping I don't have to pull him out of school, waiting until next year because of frustrations. I hope that he will surprise me and do well in school. If you ask Gavin if he is excited to go to school he will say no. If you say that something has anything to do with school he will say he doesn't want to do it and doesn't want to go to school. I have been trying to get him excited and ready. School starts July 28th.

Chase says the same thing about school! he doesn't want anything to do with it! until I told him about recess haha : ) I think it is a big scary new thing that he doesn't understand what it is yet so he just doesn't want anything to do with it.

I guess I need to teach Gavin to look at the other people taking the hearing test and push the button when they do... That's how I passed in boot camp! Chase weighed about 40 lbs at his last doctors appointment.

Wow, you have a battle with Gavin and school! Caleb is excited to get down there and egg Gavin on. Just tell Caleb to go to his room and tell Gavin and Broady to not listen to anything Caleb has to say. His nieces and nephews have a standing order to not listen to anything he says. But I guess you can get back at Caleb by doing the same to Finn. It's going to be SO awesome when we get down there! Hooray for ARIZONA!

I think I would weigh less too if I ran as fast as Gavin. Too bad I don't.
Hopefully he gets more excited about school. I think it is super exciting for you. I am going to put Kyler in Morning so that will be the opposite schedule. Bummer. I guess you have to do homework.

July 28th? Seems like a weird date. I can't believe he's going to kindergarten!!! I remember holding him for the first time at the Parkers and he was so tiny. Seems like yesterday! I laughed about the doctor tests :) They are confusing, I don't blame him!
