The Joy of Home Owning

Well today we got to experiance the joy of being a home owner. For a couple of days our AC has not been working very well at about 2 in the afternoon the air would come on and not turn off until 2 in the morning. So yesterday I called every place in the phone book to get prices. I picked the company that prices were the lowest. Half the companys said they would charge $100 just for the service call to come to Queen Creek. The company came at 7:00 and discovered we were extremely low on Freon and there was probably a leak some place which cost $300 to find a leak. Then after you find the leak it cost close to $400 to fix the leak, then it cost lots to replace the Freon. Well let us just say 2 hours of labor, 5 lbs of Freon, a small leak and $800 later our air conditioner now is working and I am not hot and in a better mood, besides having to pay for it of course. I think the AC company’s in AZ charge more than other states we can’t make it more than a day without it. Our AC only holds 5 lbs of Freon and in the attic about 2 just tells you how low we were. It is kind of madding that the leak was so little; they said it probably started leaking over a year ago. If it would have been bigger it would have been out of Freon sooner and under warranty still, but we are not so lucky. There are benefits to renting not having to deal with repairs.
